Perception is one of six stats a character has in Sheltered 2. It is symbolized by a blue eye icon.

About

Perception is one of the most important skills in the game, as it allows characters to find more items when searching locations. It also affects time needed to disarm mines and traps.

Uses

As mentioned earlier, Perception affects a character's chances of discovering items when searching different locations. This is a very useful bull, as finding more items, as well as higher quality items, can increase your chances of finding items by a considerable margin.

It also reduces the amount of time needed for a character to disarm traps, inside or outside the shelter. While this isn't the most useful ability in the world, it can still be quite helpful to the player.

Gaining XP

Perception experience can be gained in two ways. The first is to have survivors return from expeditions. THis one is self-explanatory; just have survivors return from expeditions. The longer the expedition, the more perception XP the character gains.

Another way to increase a survivor's perception is to have them read Sleuthing Books from the Bookshelf. Each book will grant a decent amount of perception experience to the survivor, after they finish reading the book.

Level Caps

The level cap for perception depends on the character's starting perception level. The higher the starting perception, the higher the level cap.

If you give your faction leader the "Extra Sensory" leader trait, then the leader will start with a guaranteed max perception of 20. This trait costs 4 trait points. However, if you give your leader the "Oblivious" negative trait, then the leader will start with a guaranteed max perception of 10. Adding this trait will give you 1 trait point. Additionally, if you give your leader the "Observant" trait, they will gain +3 perception levels.
